Job Summary
Prepares federal, state and local income and franchise tax returns for Brookdale Senior Living, Inc, and its subsidiaries. Participates in various other analysis and tax projects as required by the organization.
Essential Functions
- Maintains the corporate organizational chart and works closely with Legal to track the legal entities within the organization.
- Prepares legal entity financial statements using general ledgers by Business Unit to be used as the starting point for tax return process.
- Analyzes tax sensitive GAAP accounts, understands the tax adjustments to be recorded on GAAP financial statements and prepares tax return work papers that support those adjustments.

- Prepares the quarterly and annual tax provision process and prepares work papers provided to external auditors.
- Completes balance sheet and Income statement tax Account Reconciliations based on established due dates. Researches and resolves reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Assists with fixed assets software regarding tax lives, methods and conventions and prepares quarterly roll-forward analysis to support the deferred tax positions reported on the GAAP financial statements.

Manages the day-to-day clinical services of a more complex community to ensure residents’ healthcare needs are met. Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity and ensures quality care as residents’ healthcare needs change. In alignment with Brookdale’s Resident and Family Engagement philosophy, plans, coordinates and facilitates a calendar of person centered dementia friendly programs that meet specific needs of each and all residents within the dementia care community. Essential Functions
- Designs a 7 day a week person centered program that is engaging, creative and meets the needs and interests of the individual residents. Promotes and engages residents in the 7 domains of well-being programs in a dementia friendly structured environment; including sensory focused small group programming for residents who cannot participate in a larger group setting.
- Develops a monthly calendar, in partnership with residents, based on residents’ shared interests. Ensures person centered special events and daily path programs are scheduled and executed as scheduled.
- Ensures dementia care programs are in compliance with Brookdale Excellence Standards Tool (BEST), Divisional Dementia Care Site visit tool, state, federal, and other regulations and meet Brookdale’s mission, policies, procedures and dementia care standards as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Collaborates with community leadership educating & providing resources to families and associates regarding Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. This includes how to engage residents and lead programs on an ongoing basis. - Participates in associate evaluations and associate disciplinary action as required.
- Ensures proper transition of nursing reports upon starting and ending shift duty hours.
- Completes follow-up investigations and provides, or arranges for, follow-up education related to any medication errors as needed. Reports occupational exposure to blood, bodily fluid, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with community policy.
- Ensures assigned work areas (i.e. nurse station, med. cart, medication room, etc.), resident care rooms, and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Monitors supplies and places orders as needed. Ensures medication room and medication cart are locked according to regulations.
- Follows up on any pharmacy recommendations to assure response and implementation of order changes.
- Attends regularly conducted staff meetings as scheduled by the Director, Clinical Services/Nurse Manager and participates regularly in continuing education in-service programs. Attends various committee meetings as required by the Director, Clinical Services.

- Greets all visitors entering the community, answer questions, ensure visitors sign guest sheets, and answer/direct phone calls to the proper residents and staff.

- Manages the day-to-day healthcare operations of the community to ensure resident’s healthcare needs are met.

Job Summary
In alignment with Brookdale’s Resident and Family Engagement philosophy, plans, coordinates and facilitates a calendar of person centered dementia friendly programs that meet specific needs of each and all residents within the dementia care community. Provides person centered programs while engaging residents in meaningful and purposeful dementia care programs within the Brookdale community enhancing their quality of life. Recognizes individual abilities and needs while encouraging independence and ensuring resident habits, historical routines, interests and preferences are honored in the provision of care and programming.
Essential Functions
- Designs a 7 day a week person centered program that is engaging, creative and meets the needs and interests of the individual residents. Promotes and engages residents in the 7 domains of well-being programs in a dementia friendly structured environment; including sensory focused small group programming for residents who cannot participate in a larger group setting.
- Develops a monthly calendar, in partnership with residents, based on residents’ shared interests. Ensures person centered special events and daily path programs are scheduled and executed as scheduled.
- Ensures dementia care programs are in compliance with Brookdale Excellence Standards Tool (BEST), Divisional Dementia Care Site visit tool, state, federal, and other regulations and meet Brookdale’s mission, policies, procedures and dementia care standards as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Collaborates with community leadership educating & providing resources to families and associates regarding Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. This includes how to engage residents and lead programs on an ongoing basis. This includes facilitating and coordinating dementia focused in-services and or events for families or computer based and situation specific training for associates including Understanding Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care (UADC), as required by Brookdale.
- May provide direct supervision of Clare Bridge Program Assistant/s, as required by Executive Director, which includes assisting with hiring, coaching, and counseling program assistant associate and conducting the documenting corrective action, as needed. Completes job performance evaluations. May act in supervisory capacity in absence of Manager or Executive Director.
- Collaborates with community leadership in planning, coordinating, appropriately decorating, and participating in special events including holidays, signature programs, National Walk to End Alzheimer’s, family socials, educational and marketing events.
- Reports changes in residents’ overall health to clinical partner, including changes in behavior; takes actions to address concerns in a timely manner and collaborates with the team in exploring approaches and interventions to address behavioral expressions.
- Oversees social media content to ensure alignment with Brookdale’s culture, brand, and social media guidance and Brookdale standards.
- Plans and schedules programming events outside the community, which may include driving a community motor vehicle.
- Maintains and adheres to department monthly budget and expense control and may manage volunteer program.
- Performs personal care, housekeeping and dietary responsibilities, as needed, to ensure service quality is maintained in accordance with Clare Bridge Program standards. standards and meeting financial expectations of the department. Assists the current Dining Services Director as
needed or performs the duties of the Dining Services Director in their absence.
- Assists in the supervision of preparation and cooking of food as determined by standard recipes.
- Maintains a quality assurance program that guarantees residents receive fresh, tasty, well-prepared meals
served promptly and politely.
- Develops well-balanced recipes and menus in collaboration with chef and Dining Services Director.
- Maintains the resident request logbook and forwards these request to the chef and Dining Services Director.
Remains knowledgeable of all menus and descriptions.
- Assists in maintaining food costs and ensuring budgetary compliance. Assists in the purchasing all food and non-food items.
- Assists with the scheduling of all food service personnel to maintain compliance with budgetary guidelines.
Assists with resident billing of food service charges. Assists in the maintenance of all department logs and
ensures bookkeeping policies are followed.
- Assists in ensuring all food and beverage is stored, handled and prepared under safe and sanitary conditions
as set forth by the company and the local, state and county health departments.
- Acts as the facility’s representative for any health department of other required inspections; assures compliance, follows up to assure any deficiencies are immediately corrected in the absence of the Dining Services Director.
- Hires, trains, disciplines and terminates departmental employees in accordance with company policies.
- Assists in ensuring all department training standards are met and up to date.
- Supervises the daily operation of dining room(s) and room service. Ensures room service orders are delivered timely and properly with the Dining Room Manager. Ensures smooth and timely opening of the dining room.
- Inspects side work to ensure completion and closes dining room with the Dining Room Manager.
- Provides supervision for special functions in the absence of the Dining Services Director. Assists appropriate staff to coordinate special events.
