Manages the associates responsible for the general operating maintenance and repair of the buildings and grounds to maintain proper care of the assigned community(s) in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards/regulations and company policies.   - Supervises the community maintenance, housekeeping and laundry (if applicable) staff, to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, resolving disciplinary issues and firing. - Directs workers engaged in the maintenance and upkeep of the interior and exterior of the community. Under close supervision, drives a large capacity passenger bus to transport residents to activities, errands, and destinations. Properly operates bus and ensures the safety of all passengers.   - Drives daily and weekly route schedules to transport residents to shopping, entertainment, worship, medical offices, etc. Also drives residents to specially scheduled events. - Assists residents in and out of the bus utilizing the wheelchair lift and/or stairs, if needed. Carries and loads oxygen tanks and follows basic instructions and precautions for their use. Carries belongings, opens doors, and cautions residents on steps and other objects in their path. Opens/closes and loads/unloads walkers and wheelchairs. - Conducts daily checks of bus operation including fuel, oil, wipers, fluids, interior and exterior lights, etc. Notifies supervisor of concerns and needs. Drives bus to service center to obtain needed repairs and services. Maintains records and logs of internal and external service. - Fills the bus with gasoline at pre-approved service stations. - Ensures the interior and exterior of the bus is cleaned. Vacuums interior and collect and disposes of garbage. Wipes surfaces. Cleans windows. Washes exterior as necessary. - Responds appropriately and in a safe manner in the event of unforeseen operational malfunctions. Follows emergency procedures and ensures the protection of passengers. Ensures requirements relating to emergency exit doors, eating, drinking and smoking in or near vehicle are followed at all times. - Interacts with residents in a friendly manner providing meaningful attention and communicating concerns of resident’s health to management as appropriate. - Responds appropriately to resident emergencies by calling or contacting appropriate internal and external parties according to established protocol. May also assist with disaster management efforts and activities during evacuations, (i.e. fires, hurricanes, etc.) - May also assist with activities and scheduled events such as bingo. Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Skilled community. Adheres to the community standards and maintains the highest degree of quality care at all times. Remains in accordance with federal and state regulations.   - Assists the Director of Clinical Services in managing the day-to-day operations of the skilled clinical services department during the scheduled hours. - Assesses the needs and development of residents and implements comprehensive care plans accordingly. Consults with residents’ physician in planning resident care. Periodically reviews and updates comprehensive care plans, ensuring they are interdisciplinary and updated by the Charge Nurse as changes occur. - Works with interdisciplinary team members in developing a discharge plan for individual residents and assists in achieving discharge planning. - Conducts resident rounds to assess and/or supervise nursing care, assess condition of residents, and ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. Assists Charge Nurses with resident care needs and audits documentation. Communicates with and acts as a liaison between residents, family, physicians, and associates. - Participates in developing and maintaining policy and procedures that govern the clinical services day-to-day operations. Makes written and verbal recommendations to the Director of Clinical Services concerning the operations of the nursing department. - Participates in associate evaluations and administers disciplinary action as requested. - Ensures proper transition of nursing reports upon starting and ending shift duty hours. - Completes follow-up investigations on incidents/accidents and provides, or arranges for, follow-up education as indicated. Reports occupational exposure to blood, bodily fluid, infections materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with community policy. - Ensures assigned work areas (i.e. nurse station, medication cart, medication room, etc.), resident care rooms, and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Monitors supplies and places orders as needed. Ensures medication room and medication cart are locked according to regulations. - Follows up on any pharmacy recommendations to assure response and implementation of order changes. - Attends regularly conducted staff meetings as scheduled by the Director of Clinical Services/Nurse Manager and participates in continuing education in-service programs.
